Originally constructed as a cotton warehouse in 1892, the building was purchased by the Crescent Laundry Company in the early 1900s. Crescent used the building as a distribution center for its delivery service until the late 1970s.

In 1979 one of the current principals, Miller L. Heath, Jr., purchased the building and converted it to a Social Security Office. The building operated as various government offices until 2018, when the building fell vacant. With a rapidly revitalizing downtown scene, continuing the office was the best use.

In late 2019 renovations began. The 1970s facade was removed and the historic facade replaced. The windows and roof were replaced as were all the mechanical systems.

Then, in early 2020 Covid hit. The economy shut down, and office no longer became viable. The decision was eventually made to reposition the project as multifamily.
